Bobby Smith in 2006, Bobby's life-after-baseball mission is to help people achieve their optimal level of fitness and athletic capabilities.
Throughout Bobby's 20+ year athletic and 13 year professional baseball career, he has been an astute observer of the sports world (individuals, teams, organizations, communities, etc.) which has led him to form a wise perspective on what it takes to be a successful athlete.
Bobby was fortunate to grow up in the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland) where competetive sports is among the best in the country. The son of a baseball coach and hard working mother, Bobby learned early on what it took to achieve success on and off the field.
Growing up in Oakland, Bobby played basketball and baseball and was usually the best athlete on the field/court. His competetive and hard working nature combined with his god-gifted athletic abilities enabled him to be a successful and awarded athlete at every level.
As the result of Bobby's solid academic achievements and athletic performance in high school, he was awarded a full athletic scholarship (baseball) from California University, Berkeley in 1992. Coincidentally, at the same time he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round of the 2002 MLB draft. After long consideration, Bobby decided to forego his scholarship at Cal and pursue his life-long dream of becoming a professional baseball player.
Early in Bobby's career, he often competed with other recognized athletes from the SF Bay Area such as Jason Kidd, Randy Winn, and Gary Payton. Later on when Bobby played baseball in the major leagues, he played with and against stars such as Jermaine Dye, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Eric Chavez, Roger Clemens, and many others.
